The picture on the left was sent by the patient and was worried so she asked for an appointment. On her appointment the swelling progress that reaches to her eyes already. (Did not manage to take picture already) So i went to check the tooth involve and assess and it was for extraction. We deferred first the extraction and prescribe antibiotics for the infection to subside and analgesics for pain. The patient came back at the clinic with no swelling already and did the extraction already.
We also had patient like this before, patient claimed that he was aware that he had a badly decayed tooth, there was swelling already and self medicated with pain reliever and antibiotic and claimed that he took only 3 antibiotics because the pain was gone and the swelling subsided.. but as the days go by, the swelling went back and progresses to his face..
Facial cellulitis could be fatal. So visit your dentist 2x a year to check for decayed tooth. As small decay could progress to this if left untreated
Please please! Dont self medicate. Visit your doctor for proper management 👍🏻
